Dallas ISD is home to thousands of vendors from across the DFW Metroplex, with products ranging from art supplies and spiritwear to gaming equipment and various food services, and these business partnerships benefit students in a multitude of ways.

Vendors will get a chance to network with the district on Nov. 8, from noon to 3 p.m., at Forester Athletic Complex Field House. ISD Day is free and allows vendors to meet procurement personnel from several local independent school districts in a face-to-face environment.

“The vendor expo is an opportunity to meet end users. We’re identifying companies that have won a goods and services contract, and guaranteed they’ll utilize minority and women owned businesses,” Leslie Williams, Deputy Chief said. “We’re meeting with those companies and establishing a working relationship, but also an action plan. Our procurement department will be there to answer any questions contractors or vendors might have in reference to the procurement process here in Dallas ISD,” Leslie Williams, Deputy Chief said.

Hosted by Dallas ISD’s Minority/Women Business Enterprise Department (M/WBE), in partnership with the Dallas/Fort Worth Minority Supplier Development Council, attendees can learn about current and upcoming business opportunities, meet buyers from statewide school districts, and gain helpful information on doing business with school districts and community colleges. Those who are interested in M/WBE certification can also gain more information at the event.

The M/WBE Program was established to assist minority and women-owned businesses in pursuing Dallas ISD business opportunities in a legal and meaningful way. It is an integral component of Dallas ISD’s quest to be a premier urban school district. The award-winning department is committed to maximizing participation of minority and women-owned businesses in all phases of the district’s purchasing and contracting activities.
