    District announces Principal of the Year finalists

    Dallas ISD announced this week the eight finalists for 2016 Principal of the Year.

    The finalists will be honored for their remarkable accomplishments at a breakfast celebration on Friday, Dec. 9. Three winners will be selected from the finalists at the celebration.

    The eight finalists are broken into three categories: elementary, secondary and choice/magnet. The finalists by category are:

    Elementary

    Lisa Lovato, Dan D. Rogers Elementary School

    Kathryn Carter, L.O. Donald Elementary School

    Juan Cordoba, H.B. Gonzalez Elementary School

    Secondary

    Clarita Rivera, Young Women’s STEAM Academy at Balch Springs Middle School

    Lynn Smith, Multiple Careers Magnet Center and Maya Angelou High School

    Choice/Magnet

    Shelia Brown, Rosie M. Collins Sorrells School of Education and Social Services

    Ben Mackey, School for the Talented and Gifted

    Diana Nunez, Dallas Environmental Science Academy

    Dallas Environmental Science Academy Dan D. Rogers Elementary School H.B. Gonzalez Elementary School L.O. Donald Elementary School Multiple Careers Magnet Center Principal of the Year Rosie M.
