District hosts bid preview session to brief prospective contractors on 2015 bond projects

On Thursday, Dec. 8, Dallas ISD will hold a bid preview session to provide information to construction firms interested in submitting bids for work related to the 2015 Bond Program. The meeting will feature an overview of the projects in the first phase of the $1.6 bond program and explain the competitive bidding process. Phase 1 includes $272 million in projects, including 19 school renovations, four classroom additions to existing schools, and three new schools.

The bid preview session is set for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Jose “Joe” May Elementary School, 9818 Brockbank Drive. The district’s M/WBE Director Annie Holmes Partee says attendance at the gathering is not required to submit a bid, but she feels first-time bidders and firms with questions about the projects will find it valuable.

“This event is designed to assist contractors and subcontractors in understanding the competitive sealed proposal process,” Holmes Partee said. “The session will feature information about upcoming projects and give interested parties the opportunity to ask questions about the specifications of the various projects,” she said.

The preview will also feature a discussion of the requirements for participation of minority and women business owned firms and provide a chance for firms’ representatives to meet project architects and district staff involved in managing the bond projects.

Interested firms are asked to RSVP at 2015bidpreview.eventbrite.com. A flyer about the event is below.
