Nominate a deserving cafeteria worker for the Heart of Child Nutrition Award

Serving tasty, nutritious meals to more than 150,000 students each day is no easy feat.

Every school day, the district’s Food & Child Nutrition Services (FCNS) team is responsible for providing 46,000 breakfasts, 120,000 lunches, and 10,000 after-school snacks at more than 215 school sites—a gargantuan task by any standard. Dallas ISD boasts an award-winning food service team that has received state and national recognition for its innovative approach to child nutrition. The vanguard of the FCNS staff are the cafeteria workers—those who personally greet and serve students, and occasionally cajole them to eat their veggies along with the more coveted menu items such as sloppy joes, chicken nuggets, and pizza.

You can help celebrate our hardworking school cafeteria staff by nominating an outstanding cafeteria worker for the Heart of Child Nutrition Award. The award recognizes staff members who provide exceptional customer service to students by fueling them for success in the classroom.

Nominations are welcome from students, campus staff, parents and members of the community and must be submitted by Monday, April 27. Go here to nominate a deserving staff member today, and mark your calendar to recognize your favorite cafeteria worker with a pat on the back during School Nutrition Appreciation Week, May 4-8.
