Superintendent thankful for community that supports students

As we pause to reflect this Thanksgiving holiday, I want to express my appreciation to you, our community, for the countless ways you support our District.

As superintendent of a school district that serves more than 160,000 students, I am thankful for the outpouring of support Dallas ISD receives from our community. Parents who entrust our schools with their children, businesses and organizations that invest in and contribute to the well-being of students, civic leaders who are engaged in the challenging issues facing education, volunteers who devote hours of service as tutors and mentors, and citizens whose investment in schools makes our work possible, are all vitally important to our district’s success.

The education of our students is not solely a job for our teachers, administrators and staff, as devoted as they may be. Every citizen in our community has a stake in the success of our students and ensuring the next generation is fully equipped to take our places in the years to come. With your continued support, I am confident our district will accomplish great things for our students.

I do have a request of you this holiday season. Our district is fortunate to have among its employees many outstanding educators and staff members who go the extra mile for children every day. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I’d ask that you please thank a Dallas ISD employee for the work they do for our students; your recognition of their efforts means a great deal.

For all that each of you contribute to Dallas ISD, please accept my thanks and appreciation and wishes for a safe, relaxing, and joyous Thanksgiving.
