Dallas ISD’s Franklin D. Roosevelt High School received a donation of Under Armour athletic clothing and shoes this week from Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities. The 100 boxes of gear is valued at more than $100,000, and is just one of many recent donations the charity has presented to Dallas ISD schools. Besides athletic gear, the charity has helped provide school uniforms. Teachers looking to explore some of the more innovative options in Dallas ISD are invited to the Public Choice School hiring event set for 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Alfred J. Loos Field House. This will be a smaller, more targeted hiring event geared toward any campus that falls under the district’s Public School Choice umbrella. Students brought their own flavor of awareness to the serious issue of bullying thanks to the district’s annual anti-bullying campaign. Sponsored by the Dallas ISD Counseling Services, students participated in a poster and video contest to empower students to encourage others to take a stand to end bullying. Students across the district expressed their most creative ideas about the devastating effects of bullying in four categories. Students who help maintain the Multiple Careers Magnet Center’s greenhouse garden will host their annual Spring Plant Sale, Wednesday, April 20 and Thursday, April 21. The Dallas Independent School District has been in partnership, now in its 20th year, with the Dallas County Master County Gardener Association, Inc. who helps run the magnet school’s garden. This year the plant sale will include herbs, perennials and vegetables to be sold. The gardener association will then donate all proceeds from the sale back to the garden.
