Parents, students and community members are invited to join the STEM Environmental Education Center to learn more about the programs and resources available for students and teachers at the center. The open house is Thursday, Oct. 6 from 5:30–9:30 p.m. The center is located at 1600 Bowers Road in Seagoville. The center’s mission is to help diverse learners develop an awareness, appreciation, and concern for the environment, and as citizens use 21st century knowledge and skills to make informed, responsible decisions, solve current environmental problems, and prevent new ones.

Next Tuesday, Sept. 27, is ACT School Day, an important day in the life of seniors in the class of 2017. On that day, at 9:30 a.m., all Dallas ISD high schools will administer the ACT Plus Writing tests to seniors during the regular school day. The district’s Postsecondary Success department has covered the cost of the in-school college entrance exam to help seniors meet college admission requirements.
