Dallas ISD students in grades 7–10 are invited to register for a free summer PSAT prep class this summer. All sessions will be held Tuesday–Thursday from 8:30 a.m.–1 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Students can register here. The sessions are scheduled for: Session A: July 11 – 13, 2017 and July 18 – 20, 2017: Emmett J. Conrad High School Moises E. Four Dallas ISD seniors are winners in the Dallas Reads College Essay Contest, earning them each a $250 gift card to Target. The students are: Brent Martinez from Skyline High School Lauryn King from Skyline High School Leah Davis from Booker T. Washington HSPVA Frances Garnett from Booker T. Washington HSPVA The contest was open to all 12th-graders districtwide. Students could choose a prompt from either the Common Application or Apply Texas and write an essay. Dallas ISD’s Counseling Services recently honored its 2017 Counselors of the Year finalists at a special ceremony on Tuesday, May 9. Each finalist is highlighted in this fun and funky video, dancing to Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” The video was shown at the event. Since it opened 20 years ago, Dallas ISD’s Anne Frank Elementary School became the biggest elementary school in Texas at one point, serving about 1,400 students. It was also the first school named after Anne Frank in the country, and the first named after a child in the state. Last month, current and former students, and staff and members of the community celebrated the school’s 20th anniversary in conjunction with its annual Cultural Diversity Night.
