Omar Colunga, a fifth-grade student from Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary, and his teammates had just 10 seconds to record the answer during the exhibition Super Quiz of the Lone Star Challenge, the elementary equivalent to Academic Decathlon and Academic Pentathlon. By definition, superheroes are those with the power and stamina to go far above and beyond the feats of normal humans to help make life better for mere mortals. Move over Batman, Spider-Man, Iron Man and Wonder Woman, it’s time to make room for the real superheroes—the men and women of Dallas ISD’s Food and Child Nutrition Services Department.
