The Woodrow Wilson High School robotics team is celebrating after winning the inaugural UIL Robotics Championship held July 28-29 in Austin. The Dr. Billy Earl Dade Middle School Math and Science departments recently went on a cruise to prepare for the upcoming school year. Prior to the school year starting, Dade Principal Tracie Washington encourages each department to host a meet and greet to get to know each other and set a positive tone for the rest of the school year. Approximately 140 Dallas ISD teachers received more than $100,000 in materials and supplies for classroom enrichment projects thanks to DonorsChoose.org and a $1 million donation from Staples. As part of the Staples for Students program, Staples and Katy Perry are helping teachers across the country this back-to-school season. Staples funded the balance of every teacher-led project listed on DonorsChoose.org in Dallas. When the touring show “Beatles vs. Stones – A Musical Shoot Out” comes to the Arlington Music Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 2, the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts String Quartet will join the professional musicians on stage to add some orchestral texture to the evening.
