A survey of about 60,000 Dallas ISD students in grades 3–12 shows promising results that the district’s comprehensive efforts to focus on social and emotional learning is paying off. In three out of four categories, district students report having a more positive view than the average national student in areas such as social awareness and supportive relationships. Dallas ISD adopted an SEL policy in 2016. From respect agreements and weekly lessons to family engagement, SEL practices are built into instruction throughout the day. The Dallas Education Foundation received a $50,000 donation from Texas Rangers Hall of Famer Michael Young to restore the Reverchon Park Ball Field which will serve as the home field for the North Dallas High School Bulldogs baseball team. Many Dallas residents know Mr. Young as an immensely talented baseball player whose #10 jersey was retired by the Rangers in 2019. Atmos Energy and the Dallas Education Foundation have partnered to recognize the tireless efforts of the Dallas ISD Maintenance and Facilities essential team members for their work during the recent winter storms.
