Dare to Imagine: Unleashing creativity in the Lone Star Challenge

That is exactly how students prepared for the Lone Star Challenge competition. Dressed in costumes to represent this year’s theme, IMAGINE, over 600 elementary school students across 80 Dallas ISD campuses showed up in teams of nine to compete in the annual scholastic extravaganza. Dallas Education Foundation awards grants for innovation in special education
0Special education teachers were recently recognized by the Dallas Education Foundation for the dedication they have to their students. The foundation awarded 16 teachers with a 2024-2025 Heart of Teaching Grant to support innovative teaching practices and impactful educational projects. The total funding for all the projects awarded amounts to over $61,500 and will benefit more than 1,000 Dallas ISD students across all trustee districts. Hydee Lopez, a three-year bilingual special education teacher at Central Elementary School, is a first-time grant recipient. Monterrey to Massachusetts: Avril’s journey to Tufts University
0When she arrived in the U.S. during her junior year of high school from Monterrey, Mexico, Avril L. had no idea she would one day secure a full ride to Tufts University through the QuestBridge program. Now, a 2024 graduate of W.H. Adamson High School, she’s preparing to major in cognitive and brain science, and double major in either film or music, embarking on a journey she once thought impossible. Unlocked Opportunities: Wilmer-Hutchins High School to University of North Texas
0As the only girl who’s on the electrical construction pathway at Wilmer-Hutchins High School, Odalys P. is both a rarity and inspiration on her campus. She will continue her education at the University of North Texas with plans to pursue a degree in construction science or management and commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy or Army. “I hope that I can be an inspiration for another girl out there believing that you can actually do it,” Odalys said.
