District invites parents, students to explore school-choice options
0In her search for just the right school, parent Leah Williams wanted something different for her sons Kole, Kade and Kace, each of whom currently attends one of Dallas ISD’s non-traditional schools. Kole attends Harry Stone Montessori Academy and Kade and Kace both attend the Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy. Though pleased with the Montessori environment, as her students moved forward Williams sought an environment that would prepare them for the next level. “I was looking for something that would prepare them for the rigor and work ethic necessary for college,” she said. District nears agreement to transition adult education program
0The Dallas Independent School District is in final talks with Region 10 Education Service Center (Region 10) to allow the center to assume operation of the adult education program, effective Jan. 1, 2015. Students currently enrolled in this program will continue receiving education instruction through June 30, 2015. In addition, the district and Region 10 are finalizing three facility lease agreements for the use of James. W. Fannin, Old Arcadia Park, and Titche Annex educational facilities. These agreements will allow the district to meet its goal of allowing current students to continue their education with as little disruption as possible.…
Survey results show interest in public school choice
0Over the past several months, Dallas ISD has been asking parents and community members to weigh in on the types of schools they want to see created in the district through an online bilingual survey. Nearly 3,700 individuals voiced their opinions, which included parents of students both in and out of the district, parents of below school-aged children, and community members.
