Truett Elementary celebrates Bridge Plan building renovations (video)

With a continually growing student population, George W. Truett Elementary School was high on the priority list of campus needs to adequately house their growing enrollment. With the support of District 3 Trustee Dan Micciche and the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees, the Bridge Plan approved by trustees in March allocated $13 million to cover additions and improvements at Truett Elementary, including 24 new classrooms, a science lab, updated library, gym and computer labs. (Updated: Jan. 31, 6:21 p.m.) Classes will resume at the regular time Monday, Feb. 1, at Woodrow Wilson High School. All students and staff should report at the regular time. (Updated: Jan. 27 12:13 p.m.) After assessing the smoke damage that occurred yesterday at Woodrow Wilson High School, district officials have decided to cancel classes Thursday, Jan. 28 and Friday, Jan. 29. While members of the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees are accustomed to recognizing the special achievements of students and staff, at January’s regular board meeting the spotlight was on them. Each trustee was recognized for the time and effort they perform for students at the Jan. 28 meeting as part of School Board Recognition Month. Board approves student achievement goals to ‘drive the district forward’

Trustees approved the adoption of six new student achievement goals that Superintendent Michael Hinojosa says will be the catalyst that drives the district forward. Trustees and Hinojosa developed the proposed achievement goals after reviewing district results and holding multiple workshops. Hinojosa said most of the proposed goals have key performance indicators. The goals are: Goal 1: All students will exhibit Satisfactory or above performance on State assessments.
