0The excitement continues to build as students prepare for next school year at Balch Springs Middle School when the campus transitions to an all-girl school. Students came out with their parents to find out more information about the Young Women’s STEAM Academy at Balch Springs which opens this fall. It will be joined by the Young Men’s Leadership Academy at Fred F. Florence Middle School, which is transitioning to a single-gender school for the young men. Washington Post names seven district schools among most challenging in nation
0Five Dallas ISD schools are ranked among the nation’s 50 most challenging high schools, according to a new Washington Post report. Two of the schools—the School for Science and Engineering (SEM) and the School for the Talented and Gifted (TAG)—are ranked in the top 10 most challenging high schools in the nation. “We appreciate the contribution of all stakeholders, for without them, this level of accomplishment could not be attained,” SEM Principal Tiffany Huitt said. “We are excited to be recognized as one of America’s most challenging schools as it reflects the work of our teachers, staff, and students.” The ranking follows…
Truett Elementary celebrates ribbon cutting for ‘amazing’ new building addition
0Some of George W. Truett Elementary School’s first teachers and families joined more than 150 community members, advocates, families and district officials to celebrate a ribbon cutting for the school’s new additions and renovations. The 2015 Interim Bridge Plan funded $13 million in classroom additions and renovations at Truett. This includes a two-story building addition with 24 classrooms, a science lab, updated library, music room, gym and computer labs. School for the Talented and Gifted named the best high school in America for fifth consecutive year
0U.S. News & World Report has named the School for the Talented and Gifted at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center (TAG) as the best high school in the nation for the fifth consecutive year. TAG was joined in the top 10 of the annual rankings by the School for Science and Engineering, which earned the No. 4 spot. Overall, 13 Dallas Independent School District campuses received gold, silver or bronze medals in the magazine’s Best High Schools rankings.
