Nearly 1,000 students accepted into new collegiate academies opening next year
0Dallas ISD so far has accepted 982 students into its seven new collegiate academies and P-TECH, a specialized early college high school in Seagoville, opening next year that are often described as “game changers.” More than 1,950 students have applied for the approximately 1,000 seats available next year at the collegiate academies and P-TECH. Shadowing program proves to be illuminating for Health Professions students (video)
0Spending a day in the life of a health professional offers students a unique opportunity to learn about their chosen profession before entering college. Thanks to a partnership with local health providers, students at the School of Health Professions at Townview Center are gaining practical experience through shadowing and internships. “I go to various stations throughout the hospitals. Six Dallas ISD seniors each receive $20,000 Deloitte/NTPGA Fairway to Success Scholarships
0Deloitte LLP, The Northern Texas PGA (NTPGA), and United Way yesterday honored the recipients of the 2016 Deloitte/NTPGA Fairway to Success Scholarships. Six Dallas ISD students were awarded and joined the 32 previous recipients. Each student will receive a $20,000 scholarship towards their continuing education. The recipients were honored at a breakfast on May 2 at Lakewood Country Club. Guests include City of Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings and representatives from Deloitte, the NTPGA, and United Way. Dallas City of Learning summer learning initiative now open to students across Dallas
0Two years ago, Mayor Mike Rawlings started an effort in Dallas to combat the summer slide and give students a tangible pathway to a career.
