0Inside the pages of her new book, “Namaste Y’all,” Margaret B. Henderson teacher, Smriti Adhikary tells the story of Gayatri, a young girl adjusting to life in the U.S. after moving from Nepal. Dallas ISD senior founds nonprofit to boost voter turnout

Ewell Townview Magnet Center, is increasing voter turnout in her community through the launch of her nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, Gen-Z Votes. “It was made in response to the low turnout numbers in my community. 0For Kerrie Pegues and her daughter, Ariel, seeing each other on campus is a common occurrence. “Just the other day, when I was walking through the hallway, I looked up and I saw her doing a lab in chemistry class,” Pegues said. “I never thought we’d be here together, but it’s really cool.” Ariel agreed. “It’s been really nice to be able to spend time with her outside of our home,” she said.
