Two fine arts collegiate academies expand opportunities for students
0Dallas ISD’s two newest fine arts collegiate academies are here to serve students who want to pursue their passion in music or dance–while also earning up to 60 hours of college credit or an associate degree. Building on strong choir and band programs already in place in its feeder school community, the Wilmer-Hutchins Fine Arts Collegiate Academy offers students instruction in the basics of music theory, vocal performance and instrumental conducting along with courses in various forms of dance. Sharing the spotlight: Two Dallas ISD grads hold valedictorian honor
0Every year students compete for the academic honor of being named valedictorian. Traditionally, only one student is prized with this prestigious title. However, Fatima Roque and Tri Truong were in for an unusual surprise when official rankings identified two students as number one for the first time in recent Dallas ISD history. Roque and Truong, both 17, shared the valedictorian honor during their graduation from the School of Health Professions at Yvonne A. Summer meals program ensures no child goes hungry
0More than 150 Dallas ISD schools will offer students free breakfast and/or lunch over the summer. The Summer Food Service Program kicked off June 3 and brings free meals to children and youth 18 years and younger at participating sites throughout Dallas. All families have to do is find a site, have their child show up for breakfast and/or lunch and enjoy a healthy meal – no registration is needed!
