New tools facilitate communication between Student Transportation Services and parents

Dallas ISD Student Transportation Services is improving existing systems and rolling out new features to communicate with parents more effectively during the 2019-2020 school year. Parents and students will have access to several free applications that will support and effectively communicate any transportation updates for that family. One of the applications is a mobile app, Versatrans MyStop, that offers GPS tracking of the child’s school bus when using within the 10 minute designated stop time. Dallas ISD rises with five-point gain, earns ‘B’ for second year in a row

Dallas ISD continues to show strong gains in academic achievement under the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) A to F accountability system. Overall, the district maintained a grade of B, increasing from an 81 to 86. Fifty-seven percent of schools earned an A or B in the district’s more rigorous local accountability system, 28 of which earned an A. Charles Rice Learning Center, Edward Titche Elementary, and Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary schools were among those earning an A. In order to address the facility and technology needs of the district, Dallas ISD is in the planning process for a potential 2020 bond election. In June 2019, the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees approved a charter to establish a Citizens Bond Steering Committee (CBSC). The CBSC is structured so that several sub-committees will be formed to concentrate on specific needs within the district and provide recommendations to the CBSC. The committee will provide a final report and recommendation to the Board of Trustees in August 2020. For this reason, the district is seeking volunteers to serve on the sub-committees.…

Students enrolling in the Dallas Independent School District for the first time must provide evidence of required immunizations. Official records from a physician or health clinic, which provide documentation of current immunizations, are required. All immunizations should be completed by the first date of attendance. The law requires that students be fully vaccinated against the specified diseases. Students who are uninsured or underinsured can get free immunizations the times and dates below.
