Dallas ISD’s proposed 2022-2023 budget includes an increase in the starting salaries for teachers who are new to the district in addition to thousands of dollars in hiring incentives.  If the budget is approved, novice teachers who are new to the district would earn a starting salary of $60,000. The increase in base salary for new teachers combined with the $2,000 hiring incentive—available for both experienced and novice teachers —will help Dallas ISD be more competitive and overcome a national and state teacher shortage that has been made worse by the pandemic. Three Dallas ISD schools earned top spots on U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 Best High Schools state and national rankings. Dallas ISD’s School for the Talented and Gifted at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center (TAG) has been named the best high school in Texas, with Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School coming in second place, and the School of Science and Engineering (SEM) at Yvonne A.
