Dallas ISD monitoring weather, after-school activities canceled Wednesday
0Dallas ISD is monitoring weather conditions in anticipation of extremely cold temperatures tomorrow afternoon into Thursday. However, classes will be held as usual on Wednesday, Feb. 23, and we encourage families to send students to school in warm clothing and coats. Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the safety of students and staff, all after-school activities, practices, programs, and athletic events are canceled for Wednesday. Please continue to monitor the district’s website, social media channels, and local media for the latest regarding a decision to hold school on Thursday. We hope each of you stays warm and safe.
Dallas ISD Approves Pay Increase for Football Head Coaches
0Dallas ISD football head coaches will receive a pay increase beginning with the 2022-2023 academic year to retain and attract coaches. After collecting data from other districts in North Texas, the Dallas ISD Department of Athletics proposed a plan to adjust the current head football coach salary structure. As a result, the district is providing a one-time salary adjustment of $15,000 to current football head coaches and will adjust the pay range for the position. JG Consulting and Walsh Gallegos selected to lead search process for next Dallas ISD superintendent
0The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees today selected JG Consulting and Walsh Gallegos as the firms to help the district in the community outreach and search process for the next superintendent of schools. Superintendent Michael Hinojosa in January announced that he would close out his 13-year tenure as superintendent of the nation’s 16th largest school district. In their submitted materials, JG Consulting states it has successfully managed more than 150 executive-level searches nationwide during the past seven years, and Walsh Gallegos states it has 38 years dedicated solely to the representation of public schools in Texas and New Mexico. Dallas ISD debaters exercise civil discourse and democracy at Mayor’s Cup Public Debate
0Using one of America’s founding principles of democracy: debate, Dallas ISD students participated in the 4th Annual Mayor’s Cup Public Debate on February 15 at the Old Parkland Hospital Complex. The public debate was hosted by Dallas City Mayor Eric Johnson and the Dallas Urban Debate Alliance. Focusing on the importance of civil discourse to the city, businesses, and society, Mayor Johnson told the students and audience that healthy and rigorous debate helps all of us make reasonable decisions about the future.
