COVID-19 update on isolation and quarantine period

As COVID-19 continues to be a challenge for our students and staff, there are a number of questions around the isolation and quarantine period. Dallas ISD will adhere to the five-day isolation period for anyone who tests positive. If you are considered a close contact of someone who tests positive and are unvaccinated, you must also quarantine for the five-day period. Those who are fully vaccinated and exposed to someone who is COVID positive are not required to quarantine if they are not showing symptoms. As you are aware, Dallas County is back at the red risk level as the number of positive COVID-19 cases is on the rise. While the symptoms brought on by the new Omicron strain have proven to be less severe, it is more easily transmitted than previous variants. This is why it is important to continue wearing masks when students and staff are inside schools and on district property. As we prepare for classes to resume this week, we continue to monitor COVID-19 data and prepare for a safe return. Dallas County recently returned to level Red as the new Omicron variant has proven to be more easily transmitted than previous strains.
