What is Dallas ISD’s inclement weather policy?
0Colder weather means that when precipitation falls, there is an increasing chance of snow or ice that could cause the closure of Dallas ISD schools. In the event of inclement weather, the decision to open or close schools will be made no later than 6 a.m. on the day in question and communicated as soon as possible to parents/guardians and staff in several ways: The district will call local radio and television stations by 6 a.m. to inform…
National reading and math results generally steady, set baseline for growth
0While performance in math and reading by Dallas ISD fourth and eighth graders in the 2022 National Assessment of Educational Progress remained generally steady, the results showed that the district and the nation must continue working to improve. Schools are providing kits to families with students in kindergarten through eighth grade. As part of the National Child Identification Program, these kits provide parents with a record of their child’s physical characteristics and fingerprints to help identify them in the case of an emergency. Once received, parents can complete the form with their child’s information and store it in a secure location at home. Each kit includes instructions in English and Spanish; participation is entirely voluntary. This initiative stems from bill SB 2158…
