Approximately 250 Dallas ISD staff members across the district have earned a Mindfulness Coach Certification from the district’s Social and Emotional Learning department. All three Dallas ISD Career Institutes (CI) are hosting summer camps that introduce middle school students to the career and technical education pathways offered at their campuses. The sixth- and seventh-grade scholars who are part of Summer Breeze 2022 are training for various careers using industry-standard equipment in state-of-the-art facilities while learning about the free programs available to them. Dallas ISD conmemorará Juneteenth el lunes, 20 de junio, y las escuelas y oficinas del distrito estarán cerradas en observación de este día tan importante en la historia de Estados Unidos. Juneteenth conmemora la fecha en que se anunció la liberación de los esclavos el 19 de junio de 1865 en Galveston luego de que fuera promulgada la Proclamación de Emancipación dos años antes, y desde el año pasado es considerado día feriado a nivel federal y en el distrito. Juneteenth ha sido día feriado en Texas desde 1980.

Dallas ISD will observe Juneteenth on Monday, June 20, and district schools and offices will be closed. Juneteenth—which commemorates the announcement of the emancipation of slaves on June 19, 1865, in Galveston, following the Emancipation Proclamation that was issued two years earlier—became a federal and district holiday last year. Juneteenth has been a state holiday in Texas since 1980.
