Trinidad “Trini” Garza Early College High School, a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School, is widely considered a model early college high school. So it’s no surprise the school received a grant last week from the Texas Education Agency to help teach and show other schools what makes Trini Garza such an outstanding early college high school. Karolyn Brown, a teacher at Mt. Auburn Elementary School, has been honored with the Mirabeau B. Lamar Annual Award by the Grand Lodge of Texas, 14th District Masters, Wardens and Secretaries Association. Brown was one of only 18 educators and students in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to receive the award.

Smart City Networks, a leading telecommunication provider for convention centers and meeting facilities, recently donated $10,000 to Maple Lawn Elementary to renovate the school’s soccer field. To celebrate the completion of the renovation, Maple Lawn Elementary staff took on students in a soccer game on Monday on the renovated field.
