Medical City Children’s Hospital “kids teaching kids” program was at Dallas ISD’s Bowie Elementary on Tuesday, Feb. 27, for a snack demo and awards ceremony. Culinary students from Emmett J. Conrad, Skyline, Franklin Roosevelt and Thomas Jefferson high schools participated in the snack contest, giving live demonstrations of their snack-recipe creations in front of students from Sidney Lanier Elementary and James Bowie Elementary. The students, parents and staff helped rate each snack to determine the winners. Dallas ISD students led honest, respectful conversations on how the district, greater community and entire country can address threats of gun violence and threats in schools. Students from almost every high school attended the Course Correction Conversation: Student Edition event held at Briscoe Carpenter Livestock Center at Fair Park. One of Texas’ longest serving black senators paid South Oak Cliff High School a visit on Feb. 21, but it was a males only event. State Sen. El Departamento de Servicios de Alimentación y Nutrición Infantil (FCNS) del distrito fue clasificado en séptimo lugar entre los 75 distritos de mayor matrícula escolar en el país debido al alto nivel de participación en el programa de desayuno. Ervin Elementary School met their tutors at Toyota who will help them read through TutorMate, an online tutoring program that connects volunteers with students to engage in virtual readings! The word that kept popping up on Monday, Feb. 26, at Trinidad “Trini” Garza Early College High School was family.
