About 20 students from two Dallas ISD schools are back from a life-changing experience: competing in Florida in a Futsal tournament against teams from across the globe. Futsal is similar to indoor soccer, but involves only five players at a time. By winning the sixth-grade Dallas ISD Futsal Tournament held in March, teams from Stockard and Spence middle schools earned their entry into the World Futsal Championships. Students at Lorenzo De Zavala Elementary School are in for a colorful treat when they return on Aug. 20: PPG volunteers revitalized the school’s library and cafetorium. The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and paint products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world. “This gift will help us inspire our students,” said Melissa Gonzalez, principal at Lorenzo De Zavala Elementary School. “We cannot wait for our students to return to school and see the new beauty given to our building!”

To help parents have a smooth first day of school, the district has set up two hotlines to answer questions and provide Back-to-School information such as: enrollment, bus routes, immunization requirements, school locations, school hours, and more.
