Aside from school supplies, school uniforms are a primary need for many students going into the new school year. Families of students in preK–eighth grade in need of uniform assistance can contact their campus uniform coordinator for help in obtaining a uniform. Parents requesting uniform assistance must meet income eligibility guidelines and complete the Socioeconomic Information form to determine their eligibility. Both forms are provided by their campus uniform coordinator and returned to that coordinator once they are completed. Qualifying families receive one uniform for each approved student. A new policy on racial equity was adopted this summer in an effort to strengthen the district’s socio-economic and educational parity for its students. The purpose of this policy is to adhere to the Racial, Socio-Economic, Educational Equity Resolution that was adopted by the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees on Dec. 14, 2017. Dallas ISD’s student population comes from 115 countries and speaks over 70 different languages. As part of the district’s commitment to providing a welcoming and protective environment for every student, families who are new to the country and enrolling in school for the first time can visit the Margaret and Gilbert Herrera Student Intake Center. When school starts on Aug. 20, the new Anne Frank Early Childhood Center will welcome in some of the district’s youngest students. The Public School Choice is a competitive proposal process where educators create high-quality, best-fit options for Dallas ISD students to realize their full academic potential. El 25 de julio, se reunieron alrededor de 1,500 empleados de Dallas ISD en Wilmer-Hutchins High School para dar inició oficial al programa del distrito que hace hincapié en el trabajo en equipo y promueve las mejores prácticas de enseñanza.
