Dallas ISD is joining forces with Fort Worth ISD and Univision DFW, to launch Unidos para Aprender (Together to Learn), 58-minutes of daily instruction in Spanish for students in grades pre-K through second grade. The segment will air Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., on KSTR UniMas 49, Univision DFW’s local sister station beginning May 11. Luke Mock’s brother and sister were always big into acting, but when he started at Hillcrest High School as a freshman, he was a sports fan who joined the basketball team. To help flatten the curve of COVID-19 infections and protect our children and families, the Dallas Independent School District has closed its campuses and facilities, including our playgrounds. We will begin to open our facilities and playgrounds as state, county and medical officials lift the stay-at-home restrictions. Our hope is that we can reopen all facilities sooner rather than later as the county returns to normal.  Thank you for your understanding and patience during this unprecedented and trying time.

District employees may request reimbursement for a reasonable amount of office supply costs, to include toner, printer cartridges, and paper, incurred while working from home during the Extended Emergency Leave. Employees are advised to obtain approval from their supervisor prior to making any purchase. Note that only consumable office supply costs are eligible for reimbursement. AVID Spirit Week ended with AVID Virtual Senior Signing Day on May 1, National Signing College Day, with the Better Make Room campaign. More than 12 high schools participated, with a total of over 300 seniors participating and sharing their college decision. Parents participated and principals, AVID teachers and counselors gave words of encouragement and advice. A few campuses also had cheerleaders and dancers perform as a warm welcome.
