In addition the five Dallas ISD bond propositions on the ballot, two seats on Dallas ISD Board of Trustees were up for election on Nov. 3. Joe Carreón won the seat for District 8, which covers Love Field, Northwest Dallas and Central Dallas. Carreón will replace Miguel Solis on the board, who did not run for reelection. John Ireland Elementary School students, staff, parents and community members headed to voting booths set up in the gym on Nov. 2 to make an important decision: what activist and upstanding humanitarian leader they think should be their school’s namesake. Students and staff for the past two months worked to identify four possible humanitarian heroes that could serve as the school’s namesake.
