NAF Academies at Carter, North Dallas and South Oak Cliff High Schools are excited to announce their participation for the 2020-2021 Lenovo Scholar Network program. The Lenovo Scholar Network, now in its seventh year, encourages greater interest among high school students from under-invested in communities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), while providing them with high-tech skills critical in today’s job market. UNTD’s initiatives in this area includes the UNTD School of Education’s THRIVE (Teach Hope Respond Inspire Value and Empower), as well as a recent partnership with Call Me Mister, a 20-year-old national program started by Dr. Roy Jones at Clemson University. Dallas ISD announced today it received a $50,000 grant from Truist Financial Corporation to continue and expand meal service to children and families in need during this crisis. The funds will support unanticipated costs, such as specialty packaging and equipment to ensure safe, effective, and efficient delivery of grab-n-go meals. “We are very grateful for this grant; thanks to these generous donations, we are able to continue providing meal services to children in the Dallas ISD community with safety during these difficult times,” said Michael Rosenberger, executive director of Food and Child Nutrition Services.
