El Departamento de Oportunidades Educativas Adicionales (ELO) sigue ampliando las oportunidades para que estudiantes participen en programas enriquecedores después de clases. Dallas ISD’s Mental Health Services will be hosting a Mental Health Matters Virtual Symposium on Saturday, May 1,, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., featuring recorded presentations and a live Q&A. There will be English and Spanish presentations on topics such as parenting, bullying, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and more. The Extended Learning Opportunities Department continues to expand student access in afterschool enrichment programs. Last spring when the COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted traditional in-person enrichment programs, the ELO Department remained committed to creating no cost, no subscription, easy access platforms to ensure parents and student have access enrichment opportunities that are Engaging, Enriching, and Empowering. Dallas ISD senior Morgan Glover didn’t expect her senior year would happen in the middle of a pandemic, changing almost every aspect of her education experience. Glover, who attends the Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School, plans to study computer science at Southern Methodist University after she graduates. Dallas ISD Food and Child Nutrition Services (FCNS) is grateful for the partnership with Tyson Foods for the donation of much-needed tents for curbside meal service. The inclement weather in February ripped multiple tents used for curbside meal service. After making several previous donations, Tyson recently donated 24 tents and five flags to assist FCNS. Curbside meal distribution continues to be available every Wednesday from 4:30–6:30 p.m. with an additional pickup time of 10 a.m.–12 p.m. for high school specific curbside locations.  Meals are served at schools throughout the district.
