Los equipos del Departamento de Mantenimiento e Instalaciones han demostrado su dedicación al distrito, pues luego de las tormentas eléctricas de mayo, las cuales dejaron a más de 800 000 personas sin electricidad y causaron daños significativos a árboles y estructuras, pusieron manos a la obra para hacer las instalaciones del distrito seguras. Es así precisamente como los estudiantes se alistaron para la competencia del Lone Star Challenge. Disfrazados acorde al tema de este año, IMAGINE, más de 600 estudiantes de 80 escuelas primarias de Dallas ISD formaron equipos de nueve para competir en el espectáculo escolar anual. Dallas ISD’s Maintenance and Facilities teams are Core 4 to the core, and they demonstrated this recently when they sprung into action after the May thunderstorms—which left more than 800,000 without power and caused significant damage to trees and structures—to make district facilities safe. According to Christopher Bayer, executive director of Maintenance and Facility Services, when the storms came in on May 28, each custodian assigned to every school or central site quickly gave the department a report back to indicate any interior or exterior damage and the status of the power. Counselors representing a variety of campuses are being recognized for their dedication to their students. Dallas ISD recently held its Counselor of the Year Celebration. Hosted at Fair Park Music Hall, the speaker of the event was Vivian Chandler Fairley, principal of Emmet J. Conrad High School. During the festivities, Leticia Malena, of Leila P.
