Dallas ISD lanzará iLearn Virtual School, una escuela virtual que ofrecerá instrucción a estudiantes de 3º a 9º grado, y con el tiempo kínder a 12º grado, a cualquier hora y a su propio ritmo. La escuela la dirigirá Monica Morris, educadora con 17 años de experiencia en Dallas ISD, quien comenzó como maestra de matemáticas en W. W. At the 5A-12 and 4A-12 UIL district tournaments last weekend, four teams from three Dallas ISD schools advanced to the UIL State CX Debate Meet in their respective conferences. For 19 years, Tara Chapman taught English in Dallas ISD – at Hillcrest and Booker T. Washington high schools. But as the mother of children with disabilities, including an adult son with autism, she saw up close what a difference special education teachers can make in students’ lives. Next fall, Dallas ISD will launch iLearn Virtual School, a standalone virtual school offering anytime, self-paced instruction for students in grades 3 through 9, and ultimately grades K-12. The school will be led by Monica Morris, a 17-year veteran Dallas ISD educator, who began as a math teacher at W.W. We have a winner! Tristan Whitfield, a fifth grader at Paul L. Dunbar Learning Center, claimed first place Friday in Dallas ISD’s 30th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Oratory Competition. Tristan and seven other fourth and fifth graders competed in the finals of the competition, which is co-sponsored each year by the law firm Foley & Lardner LLP and the school district. Michael Hinojosa, superintendent of the Dallas Independent School District (Dallas ISD), announced today he will close out his 13-year tenure as superintendent of the nation’s 16th largest school district, effective December 2022. Hinojosa’s announcement caps off a 42-year career improving public education systems across the nation as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, central office staff member, and superintendent for  five different districts in both Texas and Georgia. David Newhouse, profesor de Geografía Humana AP en Thomas Jefferson High School, es uno de los 78 docentes que recibieron el Educator GeoBoost 2021 Grant de la American Geographical Society. David Newhouse, an AP Human Geography teacher at Thomas Jefferson High School, is one of 78 educators to receive the American Geographical Society’s 2021 Educator GeoBoost Grant. The grants are designed to enhance geographic learning among Advanced Placement Human Geography students.  Newhouse’s $300 award will fund the Albert.io app for exam study.
