After a semester of hard work, ongoing monitoring, and counseling, 197 Dallas ISD students graduated from high school at the district’s first ever Fall Graduation ceremony. This event was the culminating stage of implementing the Reconnection Plus + program at comprehensive high schools. This initiative aims to provide an accelerated instructional plan for 5th year + seniors and students severely behind in credits. Darrell to see AVID in Action. The Dallas Education Foundation (DEF) is proud to announce its inaugural Discretionary Grant Cycle. From now through Jan. 14, DEF is accepting Letters of Inquiry from Dallas ISD departments, campuses, and area organizations who are in current collaboration with the district. The DEF grants fund program creates greater opportunities for students and teachers across Dallas ISD. Grant awards are estimated to be between $25,000 and $100,000. Since its relaunch in late 2019, DEF has continued to strengthen its financial and administrative capacity. The schedule of the superintendent’s community conversations and dialogues has been updated so all school communities can participate this school year. The meetings that were originally scheduled for staff–Dialogue with the Superintendent–and for the community–Community Conversations Through Collaboration–will now take place during the spring by combining feeder patterns into shared events. For the past few weeks, employees of Dallas ISD’s Operations Division—bus drivers, cafeteria and maintenance workers and custodians—have been conducting a donation drive to collect items for homeless students.
