The Special Education Department is excited to announce the Super Parent Academy event on Wednesday, May 19th. This past school year has been one of many challenges and has changed the way students communicate and interact in the classroom. Sam Hooper, one of Dallas ISD’s seven students participating in this year’s UIL Academic State Meet, won first place in the 4A Computer Science category. The student at School for the Talented and Gifted at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center was also part of the school’s Computer Science Team, which won first place at state. Dallas ISD had seven students who qualified to compete at the UIL Academic State Meet that happened April 30 and May 1. The Math Club at William B. Miller Elementary started in 2016 with 15 students being coached by Math teacher Elias Cabrera. Every year the school has participated in the TMSCA, Dallas ISD Invitational contests, as well as all the Math Olympiads. Club sessions are on Tuesdays and last two hours, from 3–5 p.m. In the TMSCA contests, the students usually reach the first positions in Number Sense, which consists of a test of only 10 minutes where students have to use mental calculations and shortcuts since the use of pencil and eraser is not allowed. Mauricio García y Nancy Cázarez llevan dos años de casados y son padres orgullosos de una bebé de seis meses. Su historia comenzó en Annie Webb Blaton Elementary School, donde Cázarez era maestra de segundo grado y García, de primero. Juntos han trabajado un total de 25 años en Dallas ISD. Mauricio García and Nancy Cazarez are proud new parents of a six-month-old baby, after being married for two years. Their story began at Annie Webb Blanton Elementary School, while Cazarez taught second grade and García first grade. Together, they have worked a total of 25 years in Dallas ISD.
