Kimball High School senior Breyelle Bradley was recently awarded one of three Sulentic Family Scholarships at the annual Dallas ISD scholarship ceremony. Bradley was born in New Orleans, but her mother passed away shortly after her birth. Raised by her grandmother, Bradley learned the value of hard work and resiliency from a young age. After Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, Bradley and her grandmother moved to Dallas to start a new life. More than 150 students at Hope Medrano Elementary School were treated on Friday to a reading celebration with WWE stars. WWE and nonprofit First Book hosted the celebration to promote reading. WWE Superstar Sin Cara, WWE Divas Paige, Lana, Naomi and WWE announcer Lillian Garcia wowed students at the school. Medrano Elementary Principal Dr. Vincent Garcia said the school’s emphasis on early literacy made it a perfect choice for a wrestler-sized reading celebration. Students at Ann Richards Middle School recently had the privilege of hearing from Angelo Baak, a refugee of the Sudanese Civil War. Baak told students about his struggles and how he survived the war as a teenager. The Sudanese Civil War lasted for 22 years and resulted the death of approximately 2 million people.
