Three Schools Celebrated for State Championship Wins
At Dallas ISD Board of Trustees meeting on April 23, 2026, three high school basketball teams were recognized for their historic season.
The following schools were honored for becoming 2026 state champions and bringing home the gold:
- James Madison High School: 3A Division
- David W. Carter High School: 4A Division II
- Justin F. Kimball High School: 4A Division I
These students serve as a testament to the dedication, teamwork, and spirit that define the district’s student-athletes.

More students are earning certifications and credentials
District leaders shared updates on student outcomes. The report showed that 42% of the Class of 2024 earned industry-based certifications, and 741 students earned Level 1 or Level 2 certificates, exceeding the district’s goal of 450.
TSI readiness is improving
For the Class of 2024, TSI readiness increased by eight percentage points, with 2,910 students meeting college readiness benchmarks, 640 more students than the previous year.
Community budget meetings scheduled
Dallas ISD will host a series of community budget meetings in May at multiple locations across the district, including Career Institute South, Career Institute North, the Environmental Center, and Resource Center West, along with a virtual option. The final budget is scheduled for a board vote in May.
