After a semester of hard work, 74 Dallas ISD students graduated from high school at the district’s fourth fall graduation ceremony.
“They receive their moment to be recognized and celebrated as an accomplished student of Dallas ISD,” said Marcus Scott, director of Graduation Recovery, Attendance Advocacy, and Dropout Intervention Department. “The district does not take student graduation lightly; therefore, all must have their moment to shine.”
This event was the culminating stage of implementing the Reconnection Plus program at comprehensive high schools. This initiative aims to provide an accelerated instructional plan for fifth-year seniors and students severely behind in credits.“Based on previous years, I believe our students feel a sense of accomplishment and relief concerning their graduation,” Scott said. “Their feeling is directly cast on their faces through tears and smiles.”
