In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Oncor Kids Race, BMW Dallas Marathon Festival and Dallas ISD are teaming up with local online shoe retailer Shoebacca to donate new athletic shoes to students, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 29 at the Charles Rice Learning Center.
The Oncor Kids Race, held at Dallas City Plaza in December, attracts 6,000 students each year. Dallas ISD elementary, middle, and high school students are encouraged to participate and can do so free of charge, thanks to Oncor and other event partners. Those who participate also have the chance to take home perks including T-shirts, racing bibs, finisher medals, post-race food, and more.
The Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Stars, Frisco RoughRiders, FC Dallas, and the Texas Rangers will be at the September kickoff to continue inspiring school-aged students to make healthy lifestyle choices and promote good nutrition.
There will also be a dance contest with music by DJ Joe, as well as an obstacle course, hula hoops, jump ropes, and more provided by Oncor. Snacks will be provided by GoGo squeeZ and the Dallas Police Department, and Dallas Fire-Rescue will be on hand to join the fun.
