The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees has approved the 2023-24 and 2024-25 base school calendars. A survey was sent to families and Dallas ISD team members to seek input on how the calendar should be structured. An additional survey was sent in January to ask families and team members if they would prefer to start school after Tax-Free Weekend. Approximately 77% requested the start date be moved to the Monday after Tax-Free Weekend.

The calendars incorporate a start date after Tax Free Weekend, a mini fall break for campus team members, and an end date prior to Memorial Day.

2023-2024 Calendar Highlights

  • Teacher start date is August 3
  • Student start date is August 14
  • October 12-13 are Fall Break and Fair Days
  • January 9 is the first day back for students after winter break, rather than January 10
  • May 24 is a half-day student instructional day and a half-day teacher workday with this being the last day for both students and teachers

2024-2025 Calendar Highlights

  • Teacher start date is August 1
  • Student start date is August 12
  • October 10-11 are Fall Break and Fair Days
  • January 7 is the first day back for students after Winter Break
  • May 23 becomes a half-day student instructional day and a half-day teacher workday with this being the last day for both students and teachers
