Seven Dallas ISD students qualify for UIL Academic State Meet

Dallas ISD has seven students who qualified to compete at the UIL Academic State Meet scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 30 and May .Students who placed in the top three spots at the 4A & 5A UIL Academic Regional Meets this past weekend qualified for the state competition and scholarship opportunities.

The Academic State Meet will be held at hub sites located across the state.

Students Qualifying for UIL Academic State Meet

  • Third Place – Current Issues: Victoria Fasakin, School for the Talented and Gifted (TAG)
  • First Place – Computer Science: Sam Hooper, TAG
  • Second Place – Computer Science: Vedant Tapiavala, TAG
  • Second Place – Lincoln Douglas Debate: Avery Lambert, TAG
  • Third Place – Spelling & Vocabulary: Grace Ling, TAG
  • Third Place – Mathematics: Maanas Sharma, SEM
  • First Place – Spelling & Vocabulary: Nerverna Cail, CityLab

Other students who placed at the regional competition were:

  • 6th Place – Accounting: Oscar Lopez, School of Business and Management
  • 4th Place – Computer Science: Dhruv Nanda, TAG
  • 6th Place – Computer Science: Akshee Chopra, TAG
  • 5th Place – Literary Criticism: Bridget Beecham, TAG
  • 4th Place – Mathematics: Aditi Krishnan, TAG
  • 5th Place – Mathematics: Sam Hooper, TAG
