Dallas ISD Special Education Department offers resources and activities for parents and students during COVID-19 closures

While this is an unprecedented time for Dallas ISD due to the COVID-19 closures, the Dallas ISD Special Education Department wants to ensure families remain healthy and receive the appropriate resources they need during this crisis.

Teachers have been very creative in using video platforms—such as Zoom—to work with students with special education needs, as well as online instruction programs such as Unique Learning System (ULS) and Vizzle. However, since some students may not have access to these platforms, teachers, along with paraprofessionals, are contacting parents about how to engage with their students. As of April 14, the Special Education Department, through the different offices, had made more 16,000 contacts with students, parents and staff.

Likewise, the Dallas ISD Special Education Department has organized a series of webinars for parents, parent-to-parent connection opportunities, and online activities for students for additional resources and activities. To find out the activities planned for April, visit the calendar.
