Pre-K registration for the 2020-2021 school year is now open. Families can process their registration online at www.prekdallas.org.

“The online registration system will be easy for families to navigate from any type of electronic device,” said Yesenia Ramirez Cardoza, Director of Early Learning. “Once they visit the page www.prekdallas.org, parents will need to click on the ‘registration’ icon and complete the process through the InfoSnap system. The system and steps are available in English and Spanish.”

“We encourage families to take this time to enroll their child in pre-K. Our pre-K classes offer a safe environment that includes daily, structured centered-based learning where children can play, learn and grow,” Ramirez Cardoza added. “Studies have shown that children who attend prekindergarten are more likely to succeed in school, more likely to graduate and more likely to go to college.”

Dallas ISD has both free and tuition-based pre-K options.

Children who are three- or four-years-old on or before Sept. 1 and meet at least ONE of these requirements, qualify for free pre-k:

    • Economically disadvantaged
    • English Language Learner
    • Homeless
    • Foster care (currently or formerly)
    • Child of an active member of the armed forces or a member of the armed forces killed/injured during active duty)
    • Child of a Star of Texas Award recipient

Students who do not qualify based on the criteria listed above may still qualify for free pre-k through a pre-K scholarship under the following criteria:

    • Dallas ISD’s historical academic needs, as identified in district data (currently identified as African American students)
    • Expanded income bracket
    • English language proficiency (any parent can request their child be tested)

Children who do not meet the eligibility requirements for free pre-K or a scholarship have the option of enrolling at a tuition pre-K program. A limited number of spots for tuition-paid pre-K are available at several schools around the district.

Tuition is $525 per month per child. More information on the enrollment process and requirements can be found at www.prekdallas.org. District representatives will also be available to take parents questions via phone at 214-932-7735.
