Dallas ISD’s Food and Child Nutrition Services is – according to the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) – among the Best of the Bunch.

The TDA awarded Dallas ISD with the honor for its commitment to teaching children about healthy lifestyles using Texas agriculture. Dallas ISD joined other schools and districts in spending nearly $15 million on Texas products during the Farm Fresh Challenge.

“Choosing to buy local foods supports the Texas economy, contributes to job growth and keeps businesses in this great state thriving,” wrote TDA Commissioner Sid Miller.

“We are proud to be a leader in serving the best of Texas agriculture to our students,” said Dallas ISD FCNS Executive Director Michael Rosenberger. ” Buying local translates into valuable jobs for our residents, a reduction in transportation and environmental costs, and fresher and healthier foods for our students.
