Dallas ISD Stories: Jamaal at Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy

By The Hub on December 2, 2019 Inside Dallas ISD

Dallas ISD Stories is a new Hub series where district students, teachers and staff share their own stories.

“The benefit for me of going to an all-boys school like the Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy is that it makes you focus on academics. I know myself, and if there were girls around at school, I could maybe get off track a bit.

My favorite part of school is a class called “Path to College,” and in that class we learn about the process of applying to college. We learn about the scholarship opportunities, and different colleges come visit us. I need that extra help getting ready for what comes next. I want to study Business Finance or Business Management, and my ultimate goal is to become an entrepreneur.”
