Model United Nations

More than 400 sixth-graders from 13 Dallas ISD schools participated in the annual Model United Nations Conference at Ellis Davis Field House. (Watch this)

Robotics champions

The Sunset High School robotics team won the 2017 UIL robotics state championships in the First Tech Challenge Division. (Learn more)

Former first lady reads to students

Three nationally known children’s book authors, including former first lady Laura Bush, read to students at Thomas Tolbert Elementary. (Read this)

Speeding to Read

Tom C. Gooch Elementary students participated in the culminating event of the Speeding to Read program at Texas Motor Speedway. The program was an incentive-based motorsport themed reading program. (Learn more)

College and Career Week

C.F. Carr Elementary hosted its College and Career Week May 15–19 to encourage students to become lifelong learners. (Learn more)

Entrepreneurship in action

Students at the Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship Academy (IDEA) put their entrepreneurship skills into practice, pitching their ideas for new apps and accompanying business plans to local community leaders at the Startup Tech Showcase. (Read this)

Booking a donation

The MoneyGram Foundation and the nonprofit, First Book, teamed up to award Dallas ISD schools with a $25,500 grant to purchase culturally relevant books to improve reading programs for schools. (Learn more)

Signing Day

Seventy graduating seniors at Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School celebrated their “signing day” by publicly announcing on stage what college or university they will attend in the fall. (Learn more)
