School is out, but learning never stops in Dallas ISD!

The district’s STEM Summer Camps got underway this week. The camps feature fun and learning and cover everything from chemistry and electricity to forensic science. Meanwhile, a partnership is helping a garden grow into something great at one elementary school, and two longtime employees are moving into their next chapter.

Great grant for BA

The Bryan Adams High School Leadership Academy is the recipient of a $130,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education to strengthen its schoolwide approach to social and emotional learning. (Read this)

Retiring after 44 years with the district

Burea Shelley has the longest tenure of 300 Dallas ISD employees who retired this month. She worked 44 years at Elisha M. Pease Elementary School. (Read this)

Librarian of the Year ready for next chapter

Susi Parks Grissom retired on a high note from William B. Travis Academy/Vanguard for the Academically Talented and Gifted after being named Dallas ISD’s 2016 Librarian of the Year. (Read this)

Skyline needs your help

Vandals broke into Skyline High School‘s basement and broke about 80 percent of the flower vases used in the school’s great floral design program.
