Students learn better when they’ve had nutritious meals throughout the day. This year Dallas ISD is offering meals to all of its students at no cost. The healthy, nutritious food includes a variety of fruits and vegetables and whole grains.
The district’s Food and Child Nutrition Department is nationally recognized for its Breakfast in the Classroom program. The program has been available in elementary schools for several years and now expands its service to middle schools this for the 2014-2015 school year.
Although parents are no longer required to complete the application form for free and reduced lunch, they must complete the Income Inquiry Survey Form to have their child receive the free meals. The survey form is required in order for the district to receive federal funds for the free meal program.
