Parents are taking over the role of learners at L.G. Pinkston High School on Nov. 1 as they gather to participate in the PREP U Academic Rally Super Saturday and Resource Fair, featuring a half day of workshops, resources and fun activities to encourage them to participate more fully in education. Today’s Dallas ISD interesting personality for Throwback Thursday is Annie Holmes-Partee, director of the Minority/Women Business Enterprise Department. She has been with Dallas ISD for 15 years. Annie truly enjoys coming to work every day because of the dedicated, professional, and giving people she has the pleasure of working beside. Annie says she is most driven by having the privilege of assisting companies that have been historically underutilized. This school year, the Dallas Independent School District is piloting a program to ensure more than 3,000 special education students travel on the right bus to the right location, every time. The new Dallas Pass, also known as D-Pass for short, program is specifically geared toward students with disabilities who receive transportation services via special education bus routes. Each student is provided a specially designed electronic card that will be scanned by a card reader as they enter or exit the school bus.
