A program new to the district this year is aimed at improving literacy in children, so that they are able to read with comprehension by fourth grade. This year 2,000 literacy tutors are working with first, second and third graders. Each week, tutors spend two 30-minutes sessions where they are paired with young students. Looking for ways to donate to friends and neighbors in your community? We’ve listed a few ways our students are helping those in need during the holiday season. Food Herbert Marcus Elementary is partnering with Mt. Pisgah to help 21 families with Thanksgiving and Christmas.
